Over 100 individuals representing a broad range of Evanston businesses attended Northlight Theatre‘s community event at Five & Dime on March 13.  The range of businesses there included restaurants, retail establishments, fitness studios, banks, realtors, salons, professional services, other arts organizations, Rotary, ZS Associates, Northwestern University and more!

Guests enjoyed a vast array of appetizers as well as drinks, all generously provided by Dan Kelch and Marty Cless. Presentations about Northlight’s new theatre center were shared by the Northlight leadership team including Tim Evans, executive director; BJ Jones, artistic director; and Kim Hoopingarner, director of advancement. Mayor Daniel Biss closed out the evening by sharing how important a cultural institution like Northlight will be for the revitalization of Evanston’s downtown. Biss said he looks forward to the day he can see a play at Northlight on Church Street in Evanston.

Hoopingarner encouraged businesses to share a special offer that was presented that evening:  “Fridays for $5!” Northlight is providing every Evanston business to share this offer, which is available through the run of their next production, The Porch on Windy Hill.  The offer will be made available via QR code that businesses can share with their customers, clients and employees.

“The goal is to get people to attend Northlight now and enjoy a taste of what’s soon to come to Evanston,” said Hoopingarner. “The crowd was enthusiastic about Northlight’s return and the excitement in the room was palpable.”
