Final Approval from Evanston City Council

From Executive Director Timothy J. Evans:

I'm enormously pleased to report that after many years of seeking approval from the Evanston City Council for Northlight Theatre to relocate to downtown Evanston, the full City Council on Monday, October 14, unanimously approved our planned development at 1012 Church Street.

This is a momentous step towards our new theatre complex in downtown Evanston. We are close to raising our first benchmark goal for purchasing the building by the end of the year. Once purchased, our multiple steering committees will energize our broader fundraising bases to fund construction of the new complex.

Thanks to all who have supported our enormous effort to reach this important step on our journey.

We are grateful to our board, our advisory council, and our Northlight and Evanston friends. Many of you have shown your support through advocacy, through public comment and your presence at council meetings, through letters to aldermen and the press, and in your everyday interactions with your friends and leaders in the community.

And mostly importantly, thank you to all who have committed to this important endeavor through contributions and pledges and through sharing your important contacts. Now, with your help and counsel, we are in the enviable position of changing the future of Northlight Theatre, downtown Evanston and the Chicago Theatre landscape.

Thank you for all believing we can do this. Now let's make it happen!
